Youth Heroes Awards

Nominations and sponsorship options for Wirral 2013 open later this year

The Youth Heroes Awards were launched in 2011 as a grassroots response to the riots that rocked the nation during the summer of that year. In February 2012 the first Youth Heroes Awards ceremony was held in the Wirral and celebrated the achievements of Wirral’s young people. Rather than talking about those who have a destructive effect, the Youth Heroes Awards  are all about making a big deal of those young people who have had made an outstanding contribution to their communities and are  inspirational to others as a result.

Each of the nine awards categories and various aspects of the awards were sponsored by local businesses including Tranmere Rovers FC, Moore Finance, Mitchell Group Lexus, Skoda & Mazda plus a number of others (full list coming soon).

24 finalists were short-listed from over 130 nominations and these young heroes and their families  joined over 300 members of the public and VIP’s from the business and civic communities for an incredible night at Thornton Hall Hotel.

The event was a massive success and received high praise from politicians, press and the public. The awards were featured in a number of national publications and held a high profile in three major local newspapers. The Liverpool Post carried an article on the awards and it was front page headline news in the Wirral News and the Wirral Globe.

This media storm in a teacup caused something of a stir and now other areas of the UK are talking with the awards organisers about running Youth Heroes Awards in their area. Watch this space!!!

In the meantime Wirral YFC, the organisation behind the awards, have started planning for Wirral 2013 and all the details will be available soon. If you and/or your business would like to sponsor the awards please do contact us on 0151 647 8400 or email admin@youthheroes.org.uk.
